Back in New Jersey
We are 'physically' back home. Wish we could have stayed longer in the windy city. I'll talk about the
trip later. I'll let you view the 800+ photos I took for now.

What Camera

Some of you folks have emailed me since I started this blog asking what camera I use. Well, after scouring the internet for reviews and sample galleries. And after much thought about what do I really want and need. I bought a Canon PowerShot Pro1 the day it became available here where I live.
I was one of the early adopters of this camera that the shop where I got it was the only one in the state that had it. They say Canon likes them because they are the oldest camera shop in the tri-state. :-) I considered getting the 1D, the 10D and the Digital Rebel (all Canon). However, the weight and bulk of these three cameras didn't appeal to me. As you can see, most of my photo ops are that of my children in their activities, so lugging around a heavy camera and it's accessories just won't cut it. The Pro1 is compact, has a fixed lens that handles most jobs including a fine zoom lens and the best thing about this camera for me is that even without post processing, the shots are fantastic! This is my fourth Pro1. I had dust problems on the first two and a dead pixel on the sensor on the third. The shop though should be commended for exchanging each one without question. This fourth one seems to be without any problem. Aside from those initial kinks, I am loving this camera and would highly recommend it especially now that the price have gone down quite a bit.

SAY IT AIN'T SO

This Mother's Day will forever be remembered as the Mother's Day we joined the 95% of computer users in the world. My wife and I have always been Mac users culminating in my successful quest in becoming an Apple employee (a lifelong dream come true) almost two years ago. Our household hasalways been a Mac haven. From a graphite iMac to a 12 inch iBook g4 and a 17inch Powerbook. Then there are the Macs hidden away in the closet that we just can't let go. The powerbook 1400c, an LC II and a PowerMac 9600DP.
We still can't believe we bought our first PC today that we had to take the photo above :-) . Why you ask, did we buy one? Truth be told, I'm still looking for the answer.

LIVING ROOM REMOTE
You know what my daughters do when I come home from work and before they give me their hugs and kisses? Well, they grab the tv remote. So that I can't watch my channels and they can keep watching their kids channels before dinner. Funny.

WE LIVE ON BORROWED TIME
(Borrowing from David Friedman, this one's for Lerie)
I never thought that there could be a love like yours and mine.
I never dreamed that I would see the day that I would find...
a love that feels so right. But here we are tonight,
and now the only thing we really need is time.
We live on borrowed time.
No one can be sure when the loan will finally come due.
But I'm loving all of mine. I know what time is for.
I've borrowed it so I can spend it all right here with you.
There was a time when I believed that life held guarantees.
There was a time when I was sure, my future was secure.
But life had other plans. The future's in God's hands.
And knowing that just makes me love you even more.
We live on borrowed time.
Yesterday is past, tomorrow seems a million miles away.
But I promise you that I'm gonna make love last
by living every moment, every hour, every day.
Now we may have a year or we may have a lifetime.
No one can be certain what the future will allow.
But you and I are here and this time is the right time,
because one thing that I know is that we have each other now.
And now we live on borrowed time.
Let's celebrate and sing as we walk bravely into the unknown.
Because we're gonna be just fine whatever life may bring,
we'll face it all together and we'll never be alone.
Listen to the song.

ONE MORE DAY

My daughters and I have survived the past days with my wife away. We all can't wait for tomorrow. :-) Today was restful, we hopped in the car (the three of us) and went shopping for a couple of hours. The girls wanted to go home right away so I made a quick trip to Blockbuster and picked up Big Fish by Tim Burton.
In this heartwarming film Big Fish, director Tim Burton (Batman, Edward Scissorhands) brings his inimitable imagination on a journey that delves deep into a fabled relationship between a father and his son.
Edward Bloom (Albert Finney) has always been a teller of tall-tales about his oversized life as a young man (Ewan McGregor), when his wanderlust led him on an unlikely journey from a small-town in Alabama, around the world, and back again. His mythic exploits dart from the delightful to the delirious as he weaves epic tales about giants, blizzards, a witch and conjoined-twin lounge singers. With his larger-than-life stories, Bloom charms almost everyone he encounters except for his estranged son Will (Billy Crudup). When his mother Sandra (Jessica Lange) tries to reunite them, Will must learn how to separate fact from fiction as he comes to terms with his fatherÃs great feats and great failings.
This movie is a must see, it explores the sometimes difficult relationships of parent and child. You come away from this movie with a renewed understanding and belief of faith in matters extraordinary. It is in my list of my favorite movies . It has lots of eye candy and you'll never get bored by it. Take out your tissues especially by the end of the movie. It made me think of my father and how much I have yet to know about him.
